Bus, Rail & Ferry Transit
Bus Service
Inter-provincial coach service is provided by Acadian Lines Ltd, with direct express routes to many destinations within the province and daily service to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. There is an Acadian Lines terminal in New Glasgow, with daily bus service to Antigonish, Cape Breton, Truro, Halifax and Amherst. There are interconnections at Amherst, which provides connections to New Brunswick, PEI and points west. In partnership with Orléans Express, Acadian is able to provide passage to Montréal, Québec City, and the Mauricie, Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspé regions. In addition to passenger transport, Acadian Lines provides package delivery services and chartering.

Rail Service
Passenger trains are operated by Via Rail. The nearest passenger train station is location in Truro, approximately 35 minutes from New Glasgow. There is daily train service to Halifax, Moncton and points west.
Ferry Service
Prince Edward Island - Northumberland Ferries operates daily vehicle and passsenger service from Caribou, Nova Scotia to Wood Islands, P.E.I. May 1-Dec 20; a 22 kms route carrying 325 passengers per crossing every 90 minutes. Annual traffic for this ferry service is 500,000 to 600,000 passengers. Newfoundland – Marine Atlantic operates daily, year-round ferry service with two routes from Sydney NS to Port aux Basques or Agentia NL. Reservations required for passenger travel, commercial carriers cross in order of arrival.
